Welcome to Hokkaido and to the Sapporo/Ishikari area!
Hokkaido, Japan’s northernmost island, is blessed with vast expanses of land and a rich natural environment and is one of the country’s foremost sightseeing areas.
The largest city of Hokkaido is Sapporo, which is well known for the Sapporo Snow Festival. The Ishikari area consists of eight municipalities including Sapporo.
In the Ishikari area we find New Chitose Airport, an international airport, as well as Lake Shikotsu, whose waters are among the clearest in Japan. We also find other sites of great natural splendor, abundant agricultural, forestry and fishery products, hot springs and other tourism resources. This popular sightseeing area of Hokkaido is visited by numerous overseas tourists.
The Ishikari area has much to offer those who’ve visited Sapporo, and even more to offer those who haven’t visited that city.
